Visit the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Visitor Center, located at the company's 2,500 acre Keaau Orchard. Here you are invited to see the process, view mature macadamia trees on the nature walk and best of all, taste samples of the delectable nuts. The macadamea nut is native to Australia, but almost all commercial macadamia nuts are produced in Hawaii. Growing conditions on Mauna Loa are nearly perfect, with abundant rainfall, good drainage in the porous volcanic soil, a year long growing season and the ample Hawaiian sunshine.
